About the Maker
My journey into craftsmanship began as a child at a wilderness camp, where I first learned the art of wood carving. Growing up, I was always drawn to art in all its forms—whether it was drawing, carving, or painting. Art consumed much of my life, and it was through this creative exploration that I developed a deep connection to working with my hands.
In my early 20s, I took a different path and entered the trades as a specialty pipe welder. This shift introduced me to metalworking, where I learned to apply my artistic abilities in a technical environment. Over time, I became a certified welding inspector and a quality control manager. This experience shaped my mindset, instilling in me a dedication to striving for perfection in everything I do. The idea that there is always room for improvement, and that even the smallest flaw should be corrected, became central to my approach to craftsmanship.
In 2015, I had an experience that would forever change the direction of my life. I saw a knife built by the famous wood carver Ernest "Mooney" Warther, and it inspired me to build my own. With that first knife, I knew I had found my true calling. The process of creating something both beautiful and functional felt like a natural extension of my artistic roots, and from that moment on, knife making became my passion.
Today, I draw from my diverse background—wood carving, metalworking, and quality control—to create knives that are not only tools but functional works of art. Each piece I craft reflects my lifelong pursuit of perfection, blending creativity with precision. I'm grateful for every step in my journey, as it has shaped the knife maker I am today.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my story. I look forward to sharing my passion with you through every knife I create.

Craftsmanship
Precision in Every Detail
A custom slip joint isn't just a tool; it’s an heirloom engineered to be passed down. For the collector who appreciates fine mechanics, a mass-produced knife simply cannot compare to a piece built entirely by hand.

Drawing from years of experience in technical metalworking and strict quality control, my approach to knifemaking is centered on a relentless pursuit of perfection. Every Keown folder is a masterclass in tension, alignment, and balance. From the precise "walk and talk" snap of the blade to the seamless fit of rare handle materials like antique mammoth ivory or carbon fiber, these knives are built for those who value uncompromising standards. When you carry a Keown folder, you are carrying a functional work of art designed to elevate a daily ritual.
